Blackheath possesses the traditional good looks and charm that many people think of when they first imagine living in London. Stunning Victorian and Georgian styles homes are found throughout the neighborhood, the open ground of the heath offers tons of outdoor space for activities, and the All Saints Church – perched on the edge of the heath – creates a scene right out of a painting.
This picturesque place is filled with professionals who want a quick commute to work without giving up style. It also has a high percentage of families. There is a real sense of community spirit here, and you are likely to see weekend activities attended by many residents. The Blackheath Society organizes events throughout the year and makes sure that everyone feels included.
There is quite the variety when it comes to homes here. You've got traditional apartments with 1-3 bedrooms which tend to be a little cheaper. Then there are standalone houses with 2-4 bedrooms that are nice and typically fit in with a modern aesthetic. Finally, large Victorian estates have tons of room both indoors and out, but come with a large price tag.
Blackheath sports a number of great pubs. You’ll never have to go far for a beer or hard cider. There are a lot of restaurants here as well, ranging from pizza to Indian to Argentinean to Sushi to delis. For entertainment, Blackheath Halls hosts a wide range of events each and every year and the O2 Arena is just ten minutes away.
The high street, the wonderfully named Tranquil Vale, has everything that you’ll need, including big name shops, independent retailers, bakers, grocery stores, and a butcher. Several excellent schools here cater to school-aged children.
The major feature of the neighborhood, however, is definitely the heath. Community members take full advantage of it during nice weather and on a sunny day you'll see people picnicking and playing sports.
Blackheath is bordered on the north by Greenwich Park, on the east by Kidbrooke, on the south by Hither Green, and on the west by Lewisham.
