  WHAT’S LIVING IN Silvertown LIKE?

Formerly an industrial area in London's docklands, these days Silvertown is a good neighborhood for those who want an upscale environment while still being affordable. Its location between the Thames and a marina gives it a wide open and airy feel. Ongoing investment continues to improve the area, bringing in office space and new housing.

Silvertown has become an attractive place for young professionals who don’t have the money to live in some of the more affluent parts of London. You'll find a few terraced homes here, but most housing is provided by recently developed apartment towers.

There's not much in the way of restaurants or pubs around, so this is a pretty quiet area. You'll need to head across the river to Woolwich (via the free ferry) or into Canary Wharf for dining and entertainment.

The Thames Barrier Park is a popular spot to exercise for fitness buffs and the neighborhood boasts an outstanding primary school if you have children.

Silvertown is bordered on the north by Custom House, on the east by North Woolwich, and on the south and west by the Thames.
