Confirming that the English really do love their drink, the neighborhood of Swiss Cottage was named after a pub built in 1804. This is an affluent area with tons of parkland and lots of family appeal. It's a mostly residential community and there are large Jewish and Irish populations here. Swiss Cottage falls within London's commuter belt so the neighborhood empties out during the day when people leave for work.

A lot of the housing here is comprised of rentals and many of the old Victorian houses have been converted into flats. For those interested in buying you'll need to have lots of cash as the prices do get run up by people looking to turn homes into apartments.

The main commercial avenue here, Finchley Road, has a ton of restaurants and a handful of bars. Shopping here is passable but most residents head elsewhere.

Swiss Cottage is bordered on the north by Hampstead, on the east by Belsize Park, on the south by St John's Wood, and on the west by South Hampstead.
