Upton Park has an average violent crime rate and an average property crime rate for London.
Tree-lined streets and Victorian homes characterize what some call “the last balance of comfort and cost” in London. Upton Park is a safe, reliable, and quite cozy neighborhood. And since this place is so small and homey, there is a strong sense of community here
Most of the homes in Upton Park are single-family homes in Victorian or Georgian styles. There has been some development here, so you’ll also find more modern homes in pockets. This area has a large population of home owners, at least more than some of the surrounding neighborhoods, but there is a good rental population as well. The closer you get towards the shops and restaurants, the more apartments you will find.
The last few years have seen an uptick in the number of restaurants, hotels, and shops. You’ll find the daily necessities in town as well, including salons, grocery stores, a movie theater, and pubs.
Upton Park is bordered on the north by Forest Gate, on the east by East Ham, on the south by Plaistow, and on the west by Stratford.
