Artesia has an above average violent crime rate and a high property crime rate for Los Angeles.
Located in southeast Los Angeles, Artesia is a quiet suburban neighborhood of modest single-story homes. It borders two major highways, which makes getting elsewhere in the city simple (though you can count on traffic since this is LA, after all). It's a relatively youthful area, with 60% of the population under the age of 45.
Artesia is also home to LA's "Little India", which is located along the neighborhood's Pioneer Boulevard. There are of course plenty of highly rated Indian restaurants here, but you'll also find Indian clothing and grocery stores.
There are several well-rated schools within Artesia's boundaries.
Artesia is bordered on the north by Norwalk and on the east, south, and west by Cerritos.
