Bel-Air has a low violent crime rate and a low property crime rate for Los Angeles.
Home to a number of celebrities and entertainment executives, Bel-Air is an upscale residential neighborhood populated with mansions and expensive cars. It boasts one of the highest median incomes in all of LA but is not a particularly diverse community.
It's also quiet: it doesn't get the tourist buses that go through its neighbor to the south, Beverly Hills, and there aren't many dining or shopping options…although you're not far from other areas with more to do.
There aren't any apartments here (at least officially). Instead, properties are all single-family homes with room to spare. And for those with kids, there are a couple excellent elementary schools in the neighborhood.
Bel-Air is bordered on the north by Sherman Oaks, on the east by Beverly Hills, on the south by Westwood, and on the west by Brentwood.
Commute:
Burbank: 16.4 miles / 35-55 minutes by car
Century City: 6.7 miles / 20-35 minutes by car
Downtown LA: 18.9 miles / 35-60 minutes by car
Santa Monica: 8.8 miles / 20-30 minutes by car
Tucked away in the canyons of Bel-Air, this hotel opened in 1946 and has seen celebrities like Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, and Cary Grant stay in its rooms.
A standout for being affordable in an expensive neighborhood, and for making delicous Indian food, this is a cozy restaurant that regulars rave about.
