Burbank is a city of 100,000 people north of Hollywood and the Santa Monica Mountains. It has a bustling downtown home to media and entertainment companies, including The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Entertainment, ABC Studios, and Marvel Studios, and most of its residents work in the entertainment industry. There is a diverse mix of shopping options in its different areas, from "Antique Row" in its Magnolia Park neighborhood to upscale malls to chain stores and an IKEA.

Outside of the commercial areas, however, Burbank is a model of clean, wide streets with well-tended single-family homes. Many of Burbank's homes were built in the 1940s and 1950s and are on the smaller side. However, there are plenty of homes that have been enlarged, as well as newly built homes that are much bigger. The Rancho Park neighborhood is well-known for its particularly large properties which often have stables for horse-loving residents. Near downtown Burbank there are a number of apartment complexes.

Families can take their pick from the many highly rated public schools around here.

Like other areas in the San Fernando Valley, Burbank has hotter temperatures than central and west Los Angeles, often hitting 100F/38C in summer.

Burbank is bordered on the north by Sun Valley and Shadow Hills, on the east by Glendale, on the south by Griffith Park, and on the west by North Hollywood and Toluca Lake.
