By day, Hermosa Beach is filled with sunbathers, volleyball players, and surfers. By night it has a vibrant bar scene just off The Strand, a walking/running/biking path that stretches along its coast. This laid-back community attracts lots of young professionals and recent college grads – half its population is aged 18-44. As you'd expect of a happening beach town, there are lots of shopping and dining options.
Closer to the water are Craftsman-style houses and modern-looking beach pads, as well as some small apartment buildings. As you head east up the hills that slope down to the water, you'll find larger single-family homes. Thanks to the incline, many of them have stunning views of the ocean.
Hermosa is also home to a number of parks and athletic facilities and a couple excellent elementary schools.
Hermosa is bordered on the north by Manhattan Beach, on the east and south by Rendondo Beach, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.
