Located about 7 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles, Montebello has a suburban vibe. A fairly quiet area, you'll find tree-lined streets mostly filled with modest, single-family homes (although some of the houses here are quite large). The commercial roads are fairly nondescript: lined with shopping plazas, body shops, and businesses. Most of the dining options here are casual, though many are highly rated. The schools are Montebello are considered average or below-average quality.

Montebello is bordered on the north by Monterey Park, South San Gabriel, and Rosemead, on the east by Pico-Rivera, on the south by Downey, and on the west by Commerce and East Los Angeles.
