Shadow Hills has an average violent crime rate and an average property crime rate for Los Angeles.
Shadow Hills is a sparsely populated, semi-rural community of big properties. This is a popular place for equestrians: many residents own horses and can be found riding them on the miles of trails here. Many other Angelenos board their horses at one of the many facilities in Shadow Hills.
There are a few restaurants and shops around, but overall it's a pretty quiet place. The shopping and dining hub of Burbank isn't too far away, however.
Shadow Hills is an affluent neighborhood for Los Angeles and homes here tend to be expensive. But you do get lots of land. There are slim pickings for those looking to rent.
Because of its location near Angeles National Forest, wildlife sightings are common, including coyotes and bears.
Shadow Hills is bordered on the north by Hansen Dam and Lake View Terrace, on the east by Angeles National Forest and Sunland-Tujunga, on the south by Burbank, and on the west by Sun Valley and Pacoima.
