Tarzana has an average violent crime rate and an above average property crime rate for Los Angeles.
Named after the book and television character Tarzan, this is a quiet, residential suburb in the San Fernando Valley just north of the Santa Monica Mountains. You'll find a mix of homesteads here, from houses in the Tarzana hills with views of the valley to more rural areas where horses are permitted.
This isn't exactly a foodie paradise but there are some highly rated restaurants in the shopping plazas abutting the 101 Freeway.
When you want to get outdoors there are two parks nearby, plus great hiking in the hills. For kids, a local recreation center offers sports and summer camps.
Tarzana is bordered on the north by Reseda, on the east by Encino, on the south by the Santa Monica Mountains, and on the west by Woodland Hills.
