Westwood has a low violent crime rate and a below average property crime rate for Los Angeles.
Westwood is dominated by the campus of UCLA and its 40,000+ students. The rest of the neighborhood is a mix of office buildings, high-rise apartment buildings, single family homes, and smaller apartments.
Westwood Village, located at the edge of the UCLA campus, is a hub of shopping and dining. Thanks to student budgets, most the of restaurants are affordable. There are also a number of bars, lounges, and a comedy club.
Westwood is bordered on the north by Bel Air and Beverly Crest, on the east by Beverly Hills, on the south by Century City and West Los Angeles, and on the west by Sawtelle and Brentwood.
