Deer Park has a high violent crime rate and an above average property crime rate for Melbourne.
Deer Park is a quiet suburb 17 kilometers west of the Melbourne CBD. A stroll down its streets will reveal uniform rows of well-manicured, old brick homes. Residents say it has a small town feel and this is a popular place for families thanks to its excellent primary and secondary schools.
While mostly residential, this suburb has a few shopping hubs featuring international shops and restaurants that reflect the suburb’s multiculturalism. Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese eateries are consistently filled with satisfied customers.
The suburb has an Australian Rules football team that competes in the Western Region Football League, along with very active cricket and tennis clubs.
Despite increasing property values, Deer Park is still a fairly affordable place to live.
Deer Park is bordered on the north by Albanvale and Cairnlea, on the east by Ardeer, on the south by Derrimut, and on the west by Ravenhall and Burnside.
