Just 4 kilometers northwest of Melbourne is the suburb of Flemington. Nestled between Ascot Vale and Kensington, this quirky neighborhood is a place where hip, young singles and professionals go to experience a touch of suburbia with convenient transportation to the CBD.
An array of restaurants offer multicultural cuisine that will satisfy any palate. The blocks around the local train station bubble with eager shoppers looking for antiques and unusual gifts, while Flemington Racecourse showcases the world’s fastest race horses at the annual Melbourne Cup, an event taken so seriously that it's a public holiday in Victoria.
The streets of Flemington are lined with Edwardian and Victorian era homes on leafy lots. Most residents live in detached single family homes and terraces. Flemington is also home to multiple public housing estates, the largest being the Holland Court Housing Commission of Victoria estate. This estate contains twenty-story towers and three and four-story apartment homes. Overall, this is a diverse suburb that is close to Melbourne.
