Tranquil, leafy and green – these are the words that best describe Maribyrnong. There are a few buses that travel in and out of Maribyrnong, but most people rely on their cars for transportation around here.
The dominating feature of this neighborhood is the Highpoint Shopping Centre, which is the fourth largest shopping mall in Australia. It has a variety of grocery stores and eateries and over 500 stores so you've got pretty much every need covered. Just across the road from the Centre are several big box retail stores selling furniture and home appliances.
The suburb is bordered on three sides by the Maribyrnong River Trail, so residents have quick access to the running and cycling path along riveribyrnong River.
During the week days, the highly rated Maribyrnong College and St Margarets Catholic Primary School see kids stream through their doors to learn from some of the best teachers in the area.
Most residents live in traditional, single-story homes. Houses along the riverfront are larger, but you won't find anything ostentatious here. There is also a section of town filled with large modern townhouses.
Maribyrnong is bordered on the west, north, and east by the Maribyrnong River and on the south by Maidstone and Footscray.
