Middle Park has a below average violent crime rate and an average property crime rate for Melbourne.
Only 5 kilometers south of the Melbourne CBD is Middle Park. This idyllic neighborhood features a family-friendly vibe, beachfront location, and a short tram ride into the city.
In the summertime, the beach is filled with locals sunbathing, running along the water, windsurfing, or playing cricket. Kids swarm a series of beautiful playgrounds like Albert Park and Luna Park, while parents grill on park BBQs. The village has a number of quaint shops and cafes, along with hair dressers, clothing stores and gift shops.
One word of caution: the annual Formula One Australian Grand Prix is held next door at Albert Park's Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit. Expect to have your lifestyle disrupted by the whine of racing engines and traffic from 300,000 people over the four day event.
Most residents live in a mix of expensive Victorian homes, semi-detached townhomes, and apartments. Overall, this neighborhood offers a quiet beachside living experience with urban adventure just around the corner.
Middle Park is bordered on the west and north by Albert Park, on the east by St Kilda West, and on the south by Port Phillip Bay.
