South Melbourne is a beautiful suburb located just south of the CBD and is a short tram ride into town. It's marked by wide, leafy streets lined with old Victorian homes and apartment buildings. The rental market is somewhat affordable, but it costs at least a million dollars to buy a home here.

Residents have a wide variety of shops, cafes, eateries and art galleries to choose from, most of which are on Clarendon Street.

A variety of people reside here, ranging from the super-rich to the average professional just looking for a great place to live.

Most people here share one thing in common, however: they're serious football fans. This neighborhood is home to the South Melbourne FC, one of Australia's most successful Australian Rules football clubs. During the season, the team plays at Bob Jane Stadium on Lake Oval.

South Melbourne is bordered on the north by Southbank, on the east and south by Albert Park, and on the west by Port Melbourne.
