  WHAT’S LIVING IN Riverdale LIKE?

If the name 'Riverdale' alone evokes images of a waterfront idyll, then you'll be happy to know this Bronx neighborhood delivers. Perched on the hills above the Hudson River are sprawling properties with giant mansions, many boasting incredible views. Parks and gardens line the river, providing ample benches to sit and enjoy sunsets.

The scenery does get less epic the further east you go, where houses become normal-sized and some red brick apartment buildings appear.

Riverdale has a good selection of dining options, ranging from sushi and Italian to Greek and casual burger joints. With the exception of a couple low key bars, there is no nightlife to speak of. But that's just fine with the families who are attracted to the neighborhood's quiet atmosphere. For shopping, you've got several malls nearby.

Van Cortlandt Park offers 1,146 acres (464 hectares) green space, walking and running trails, athletic fields, playgrounds, outdoor pools, and horseback riding trails.

While the public schools here aren't anything to brag about, there are some excellent private schools in Riverdale.

Riverdale is bordered on the north by North Riverdale, on the east by Fieldston and Kingsbridge, on the south by Spuyten Duyvil, and on the west by the Hudson River.
