South Lake Union has a high violent crime rate and a high property crime rate for Seattle.
South Lake Union is a neighborhood in transition thanks to tech behemoth Amazon establishing its headquarters here. Previously an industrial center, the area is now a hub for tech companies and their employees, which has brought new apartment buildings and an influx of hip bars and restaurants.
On a nice day you can relax in Lake Union Park, completed in 2010, which offers green space for sports and picnics as well as paddle boats and sailing lessons. South Lake Union is within walking distance of Seattle's downtown.
South Lake Union is bordered on the north by Westlake and Eastlake, on the east by Capitol Hill, on the south by Downtown Seattle, and on the west by Queen Anne.

Serious Pie and Biscuit, located in the bustling South Lake Union neighborhood, is a multi-storied building brimming with delectable pizzas, buttery biscuits and a very serious bar. Biscuits are topped with everything from fried chicken and gravy to seasonal jams.
LunchBox Laboratory got started in a 400 square foot building in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle by the MacGyver-like culinary vision of Food Alchemist Scott Simpson. By mixing nostalgic Americana comfort food with an off-the-wall twist, he was able to create that unique restaurant that she would have enjoyed and been proud of.
Our charter is to research, develop, and prepare caffe espresso as a new culinary art. “Espresso Vivace” translates loosely as great enthusiasm and excitement for espresso, the new world coffee.
