McMahons Point, located in Sydney's Lower North Shore, is a residential neighborhood jutting out into Sydney Harbour. This is a medium density area, full of low- and midrise apartment buildings as well as a few single-family homes and terraced rowhouses. Its position on a hill sloping down to the waterfront affords many of this dwellings with spectacular views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and city skyline.
It has a number of solid restaurants offering modern Australian, Thai, Italian, and gastropub food, including the upscale and romantic Sails on Lavender Bay restaurant, located right on the water.
