Mosman has a low violent crime rate and a low property crime rate for Sydney.
Mosman is an affluent suburb in Sydney's Lower North Shore region with lots to love: the famous Taronga Zoo, whose views of the city rival its animals; the picturesque Balmoral Beach; and excellent nature walks in Sydney Harbour National Park.
Military Road, the main thoroughfare in town, has plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes. (Be warned: Military Road is the only major road going in or out of Mosman and it is typically snarled with traffic during commuting hours.)
Since Mosman is surrounded by water on three sides, you've got lots of waterfront activities besides Balmoral. There is Chinaman's Beach, Chowder Bay Beach, and a couple secluded beaches within the national park here.
All these amenities will cost you, though: this is one of the most expensive parts of the city. And because of the cost of living, you tend to find more established families and an older population here.
Housing here is a mix of midrise apartments, grand Federation-style homes, and modern townhouses.
Mosman is bordered on the north, east, and south by water and on the west by Cremorne.
