Playa del Rey has an average violent crime rate and an above average property crime rate for Los Angeles.
Playa del Rey is a small beach neighborhood just south of the marina. It's mostly residential but does have some dining and shopping along its main road, including some great dive bars and restaurants. Housing-wise, you'll find a mix of beach pads on the sand, large apartment complexes, and large single-family homes.
A word of warning: residents have to contend with noise from the nearby international airport.
Playa del Rey is bordered on the north by Marina del Rey, on the east by Playa Vista and Westchester, on the south by El Segundo, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean.

This restaurant is really four restaurants in one, with distinct areas that are open at different times of day. You could eat all three daily meals here and then have a nightcap at the small, speakeasy-like room in the back.
