WHAT’S LIVING IN Queen Anne LIKE?

Queen Anne is a large neighborhood in central Seattle with two distinct parts: Upper and Lower.

Upper Queen Anne is both more northerly and more elevated: in the 1800s the city's wealthy residents built their mansions on its hills in the Queen Anne style which give the neighborhood its name. If you can afford the homes here you'll have amazing views of downtown Seattle, Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, or the Cascade Mountains, depending on which side of the hill you're on. This is a quieter residential area but does have some limited shopping and dining along Galer Street, including antique stores, cafes, and restaurants. It's also home to Seattle Pacific University.

Lower Queen Anne is a mixed-income area popular with professionals in their twenties and thirties. Given its younger population it's got more going on than Upper Queen Anne. The Seattle Center hub has plenty of bars and restaurants and theaters to keep your nights interesting.

Housing-wise you'll find condos and townhomes in Lower Queen Anne and a mix of craftsman, Tudor-style, bungalows, and other single-family homes in Upper Queen Anne.

Queen Anne is bordered on the north by the ship canal, on the east by Westlake and South Lake Union, on the south by Belltown, and on the west by Interbay.

Commute:

Bellevue: 13 miles / 25-50 minutes by car / 75-90 minutes by transit
Redmond: 18 miles / 25-50 minutes by car / 50-85 minutes by transit
