WHAT’S LIVING IN Malvern East LIKE?

Malvern East is the kind of suburb where you can hit a round of golf in the morning, do some shopping at local boutiques in the afternoon, and dine at one of the great restaurants in the evening.

Rent and home prices are relatively affordable, but the rental market is limited so you'll need to keep a close watch on the market and move fast when you spot something. Most housing consists of attractive heritage homes sitting on leafy lots on tree-lined streets.

But neighborhood lawns aren't the only prominent greens in Malvern East. The suburb features not just one, but three golf courses: the East Malvern Golf Club, Malvern Valley Public Golf Course, and the Nepean Golf Club.

If golf isn't your thing, the neighborhood boasts a number of parks, the most popular of which are Central Park, Hedgeley Dene Gardens, and the Urban Forest Reserve.

The suburb has a variety of boutiques and restaurants that can be found on its main thoroughfares, Waverley Road and Koornang Road. The Chadstone Shopping Centre is also a popular destination for local shopping needs.

About half of Malvern's residents are single, but there is a large population of families with children that live here.

For commuters to the CBD, this suburb is serviced by a variety of transportation options, including the Darling and East Malvern railway stations. And if you own a bike, Malvern East has a community bike path along Gardiners Creek, which joins the Greater Melbourne network of bike paths.

Malvern East is bordered on the north by Glen Iris and Ashburton, on the east by Chadstone, on the south by Murrumbeena, Carnegie, and on the west by Caulfield East, Malvern.
