Lower Plenty is an affluent, quiet suburb that attracts nature enthusiasts and active outdoors people. It doesn’t have many local businesses or entertainment venues, but people don’t live here for the shopping. Rather, the area is famous for its outstanding natural features, hills and landscapes, and amazing views of the Yarra River and Plenty River.
That means that on afternoons and weekends you'll see cyclists and joggers enjoying the Main Yarra Trail and the Plenty River Trail. Both offer up the beauty of the rivers in a bushland setting. If biking or running aren't your thing, the Rosanna Golf Club and the Heidelberg Golf Club are filled with golfers enjoying a friendly game on thir greens.
Houses here are large and sit on even larger properties on empty streets. Along the main road there are a few apartments and townhomes.
For those working in the city, Lower Plenty is about 21 kilometers northeast from the Melbourne CBD.
Lower Plenty is bordered on the north by Montmorency, on the east and south by the Yarra River, and on the west by Viewbank and Yallambie.
