Gardena is an ethnically diverse residential and industrial neighborhood. Most of the community is made up of fairly nondescript strips malls and apartment buildings. Highly rated restaurants are located around the area. Shopping is more or less limited to big box and discount retailers.
Gardena is bordered on the north by Athens, on the east by Compton, on the south by Torrance, and on the west by Hawthorne and Alondra Park.
