A fairly unexciting but affordable suburb 14 miles southwest of Downtown LA.
Gardena is an ethnically diverse residential and industrial neighborhood. Most of the community is made up of fairly nondescript strips malls and apartment buildings. Highly rated restaurants are located around the area. Shopping is more or less limited to big box and discount retailers.
Gardena is bordered on the north by Athens, on the east by Compton, on the south by Torrance, and on the west by Hawthorne and Alondra Park.

Diners are inevitably transfixed, a captivated audience in awe of the gleaming mozzarella machine, the still-swirling batch of pistachio gelato and the flour-coated hands of bakers massaging heaps of dough.
Of all the places you think you'd find a restaurant where you can order a Hawaiian breakfast. Inside the walls of Gardena Bowl is the Gardena Bowl Coffee Shop, where the menu consists of regular American fare right next to both Japanese and Hawaiian specialties.
