Braybrook has a high violent crime rate and a high property crime rate for Melbourne.
Approximately 11 kilometers west from Melbourne's CBD, just south of the Maribyrnong River, is Braybrook. Tree-lined streets and tidy, single family homes cover most of this residential suburb's real estate. Braybrook also boasts some great parks and recreation facilities, but many residents choose to live there for the great schools and community spirit.
The suburb's main shopping strip is Central West Plaza on the corners of South Road and Ashley Street, right on the border of West Footscray. Braybook Plaza is another local shopping center, located on one of the main thoroughfares through town, Ballarat Road.
The Braybrook Community Centre is packed full of kid-friendly facilities, offers English as a second language (ESL) courses, free internet, and health and well-being classes.
Braybrook is bordered on the north by the Maribyrnong River, on the east by Maidstone and West Footscray, on the south by Tottenham, and on the west by Sunshine and Sunshine North.
