Redwood Shores has a below average violent crime rate and a below average property crime rate compared to other cities in the United States.
Redwood Shores is one of the wealthiest parts of Redwood City. It’s a waterfront community suburb known for its multi-million dollar properties. In fact, this exclusive community was ranked as “The Top Selling Luxury Neighborhood” in 2009 by Forbes magazine. With that said, it's been built on reclaimed marshland and is very much a planned development, so streets and homes have a homogenous look — you're not going to find the character and charm of more organic neighborhoods in other parts of Silicon Valley.
For those who can't afford the large single-family homes, there are a number of upscale apartment complexes here as well. And while it's mostly residential, a couple business parks take up a good chunk of land and are home to various tech companies including EA and Oracle.
There are a few restaurants within Redwood Shores, but for basic necessities like groceries or to find a greater variety of shopping and dining you'll need to head into adjacent towns.
What it lacks in amenities it makes up for with its location. Many homes have views of the San Francisco Bay and you can take advantage of the walking paths bordering the water. Wildlife sightings are common, ranging from seals to stingrays and jellyfish and birds. The Bair Island State Marine Park is just south of here.
Although it is part of Redwood City, Redwood Shores can only be accessed via two roads passing through the towns of Belmont or San Carlos. A bus does come through but that's the extent of local public transportation, so you'll need a car here.
It you're searching for a quiet, safe place that's surrounded by nature then this is the place for you.
Redwood Shores is bordered on the north by the Bay, on the east by Blair Island Marine State Park, on the south by San Carlos, and on the west by Foster City.
Great bar and grill with an extensive menu and an atmosphere of classic American dining. It’s tucked away in a quiet area (as most of Redwood Shores is), but the quality of the food will blow you away.
Often referred to as a better version of Panda Express, this Chinese restaurant is a popular spot (pun intended) that draws in the corporate lunch crowd and locals.
