Yarraville has a low violent crime rate and an average property crime rate for Melbourne.
Located 8 kilometers west of the Melbourne CBD is the suburb of Yarraville. People here are mostly white-collar professionals looking for a suburban escape from the city.
The streets are lined with refurbished 19th century buildings and sprinkled with restaurants, cafés, and flower shops. Foodies will love this suburb as it hosts dozens of restaurants and cafes that feature cuisine styles from around the world, including Asian, Indian, Greek, Italian, Cambodian, Australian, Thai, and Chinese. There are a few bars and pubs around to grab a pint, but don't expect much of a nightlife.
Still, this is a lively community. The Yarraville Markets is hosted here every month, offering Australian made trinkets, clothes, and treats. The neighborhood is also decorated with several parks filled with dog walkers and couples picnicking.
Most residents live in what seems to be an endless stream of expensive modern apartments or expensive Edwardian/Victorian-style, semi-detached townhomes. If you've got the funds this is a great place to call home.
Yarraville is bordered on the north by Kingsville and Seddon, on the east by the Yarra River, on the south by Spotswood and South Kingsville, and on the west by Brooklyn and Tottenham.
