Leimert Park is a vibrant neighborhood located in South LA. It's long been a cultural hub for LA's African-American community and residents speak highly of the friendly neighbors, community pride, and history of this area. The heart of this neighborhood is Leimert Village, which is full of art galleries, unique restaurants, bookstores, and shops. Events and festivals are held throughout the year.
Many of the homes here are on the larger side and you'll find Spanish-style homes and bungalows. There are some beautiful apartment buildings that date to the 1920s.
The main negative to Leimert Park? All the public schools here have a very low rating.
Leimert Park is bordered on the north by Jefferson Park, on the east by Exposition Park and Vermont Square, on the south by Hyde Park, and on the west by View Park-Windsor Hills and Crenshaw.
