Chatswood has a low violent crime rate and a low property crime rate for Sydney.
Chatswood is a residential and commercial district in the Lower North Shore region of Sydney. The core of Chatswood is a business hub, the main one on the north side of Sydney Harbour. Here you'll find skyscrapers occupied by some of Australia's major corporations. There are also several shopping malls, hotels, entertainment options, and restaurants — the area is known in particular for its Chinese restaurants. Standing tall among the office buildings are several residential towers.
Once you leave the core you'll find a quiet suburban neighborhood of tree-lined streets and single-family homes. Recreation-wise there are a dozen parks offering walking and running trails, picnic space, sports fields, and playgrounds. The Chatswood Golf Club allows non-member play.
Several schools in the neighborhood cater to students of all ages and on Saturday mornings the Chatswood Public School hosts an organic farmers market.
Chatswood is bordered on the north by Roseville, on the east by Castle Cove and North Willoughby, on the south Artarmon and Lane Cove North, and on the west by Chatswood West.
