Sunland-Tujunga has a below average violent crime rate and a below average property crime rate for Los Angeles.
Sunland-Tujunga is a semi-rural neighborhood located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and the 1,024 square mile (2652 sq km) Angeles National Forest. Its claim to fame is being the site where Steven Spielberg filmed E.T.'s forest scenes.
Sunland-Tujunga is home to the Angeles National Gold Club, which features a top rated course and spectacular views of the mountains. There are a smattering of restaurants and shops around.
Most of the homes here are family-sized and as you head further up into the hills you'll find large properties that are great for horse owners. Houses are affordable but you are definitely off the beaten path up in this neighborhood.
Most of the schools are above average, but a few require improvement.
Sunland-Tujunga is bordered on the north by Angeles National Forest, on the east by Glendale, and on the south and west by Shadow Hills.
