Carthay is an affluent, small neighborhood – just a half square mile (1.3 sq km) – with a diverse population of about 5,000. Carthay's eastern border is the edge of LA's "Little Ethiopia" area, which, as the name suggests, has a number of Ethiopian restaurants. "Meals by Genet" in particular has become an institution, acclaimed by food critics and diners alike.
Carthay is bordered on the west by Pico-Robertson, on the north by Beverly Grove, on the east by Mid-Wilshire, and on the south by Mid-City.
