Double Bay has a low violent crime rate and a low property crime rate for Sydney.
Double Bay is an exclusive suburb in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs that sits on a small bay of the same name. It's got stylish, upscale boutiques, trendy restaurants and bars, and its beautiful homes are among the most expensive real estate in the country. When the jacaranda trees lining its streets are in full bloom, it seems like something out of a painting.
There are plenty of shopping options here, but they're mostly upscale: Jimmy Choo, Prada, and Bottega Veneta just to name a few. Transvaal Avenue is a heritage protected cul-de-sac with local brands. For more pedestrian needs you'll need to head to nearby Edgecliff. The restaurants here are more of a mix — you'll find both trendy, pricier spots and also casual fare.
The secluded Redleaf Beach (netted to protect against the harbour's bull sharks) and Steyne Park are great places to lounge in the sun or go for a swim on a lazy day.
Double Bay's wharf is serviced by Sydney's ferries.
Double Bay is bordered on the north by Double Bay (body of water), on the east by Bellevue Hill, on the south by Woollahra, and on the west by Edgecliff and Darling Point.
