West Los Angeles has a below average violent crime rate and a high property crime rate for Los Angeles.
True to its name, this neighborhood is located in the Westside of Log Angeles. This is a fairly nondescript part of the city that's nestled among more interesting ones. Along its main drags are a collection of office buildings and shopping plazas and just behind those are quiet streets filled with small apartment buildings and modest single-family homes.
It is home to some iconic casual dining spots. The Apple Pan dates to 1947 and looks like it hasn't changed much at all since then. The menu only has a few options: a couple different burgers, a grilled cheese sandwich, fries, soda, and pie. It's all cheap and it's all delicious. And Zankou Chicken is a fast food joint with a cult following.
In the center of the neighborhood is a highly rated elementary school.
West Los Angeles is bordered on the north by Westwood, on the east by Century City, on the south by Cheviot Hills and Rancho Park, and on the west by Sawtelle.
