  WHAT’S LIVING IN Alexandria LIKE?

Alexandria is a mostly industrial neighborhood south of Sydney's CBD. Car dealerships, small manufacturers, warehouses, wholesalers, and offices are a common site on Alexandria's main thoroughfares. Along the edges of this neighborhood, however, you will leafy streets with charming terraced rowhouses, single story cottages, and midrise apartment buildings. Tucked among the streets are local pubs and restaurants, including the popular foodie haven of The Grounds at Alexandria, which was the site of a tannery and wool washing factory.

It's boundaries also include the terrific Sydney Park, which formerly was the site of major brick works (the chimneys are still there) and now has nearly 100 acres (40 hectares) of picnic area, gardens, walking, running, and biking paths, wetlands, and a playground. The nearby Alexandria Park has sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, a playground, and picnic shelters. There are a couple smaller parks as well.

This an affordable and up-and-coming part of Sydney to live in and has a short commute to the CBD and other great areas of the city, making it popular with young professionals and families.

Alexandria is bordered on the north by Redfern and Waterloo, on the east by Zetland, Beaconsfield, and Rosebery, on the south by Mascot, and on the west by St. Peters and Erskineville.
