Ultimo is a hub of activity thanks the thousands of university students who attend one of three schools here. There are a number of affordable apartments that cater to the student population, but there are quieter parts of the suburb with terraced homes and newer condos.
As you'd expect of an area with lots of students you'll find plenty of cheap eats here, including a number of great Malaysian restaurants. It's also surrounded on all sides by cool neighborhoods with lots going on.
The main avenues have shops that cover all your day-to-day conveniences like pharmacies and grocery stores. Wentworth Park provides plenty of green space to have a picnic or just enjoy the sun, playgrounds, cricket fields, and exercise gear; it also features a greyhound racing track.
Ultimo is bordered on the north by Pyrmont, on the east by Haymarket, on the south by Chippendale, and on the west by Glebe.
