Pyrmont has a low violent crime rate and a below average property crime rate for Sydney.
Pyrmont, located in Central Sydney, is home to much of the spillover of companies from the CBD. On its waterfront you'll find a mix of big media, big tech (i.e. Google), and consulting companies along with scrappier startups. Further in from the harbor are charming streets of sandstone houses, terraces, apartment complexes, and renovated brick warehouses. This small neighborhood has a close-knit village feel and you can walk to everything. There are stunning views of the harbor and surrounding neighborhoods from the parks here.
There are some cafes, pubs, and restaurants, but one business dominates the dining and nightlife here: the Star Sydney is the second largest casino complex in Australia (#1 is in Melbourne). It's home to dozens of game tables, bars, restaurants, and a theater. An attached luxury hotel offers lodging and private apartments. Just beyond the Star you've got all the shopping, dining, and nightlife of Darling Harbour.
If you work in the CBD you can walk across the Pyrmont Bridge and be there in twenty minutes.
Pyrmont is bordered on the west, north, and east by Sydney Harbour and on the south by Ultimo.
