Dalston has a high violent crime rate and a high property crime rate for London.
Considered one of the coolest places in London, Dalston is home to the young and the young at heart. The area is absolutely packed with restaurants, nightclubs, vintage shops, cafes, and other hangouts for students, creatives, and young professionals. One unique bar is the Roof Park, which is located on the Astro-turfed roof of a former factory.
Prices in the area tend to be lower than other parts of London, though they are on the rise thanks to the incoming cool kids fighting over apartments. Properties vary in size and scale, but you can expect to get an apartment in a high-rise building rather than a terraced home.
It is extremely well connected to the rest of the city and on weekends the tube stations are packed with people going out for the night.
Dalston is bordered on the north by Shacklewell, on the east by Hackney, on the south by Haggerston, and on the west by De Beauvoir Town.
